Have you ever stood at a bus stop, airport or even a train station waiting for a vehicle of transportation to move you from one location to another? You would hold in your hand the schedule that would tell you where you should stand, what time to be there; and if the transport was going to be late there would be some kind of notification as to the anticipated time of arrival. Barring a major interruption you had a fairly accurate idea of when you would get to your destination.
Unfortunately we in the Christian world expect God to operate on that same type of format. Many Christians have walked away from their station of hope and expectancy because the Father did not stay on their time table. As difficult as it is to wait for any extended amount of time, Waiting is a BIG part of our relationship with our Heavenly Father.
I want it NOW...or Not
I personally have a great abhorrence to waiting. I am of a quick decisive mind. I get frustrated when others take too much time in the drive through lane at McDonald's. I mean really, how long does it take to order chicken nuggets, large fries and an a Green Tea? So waiting is NOT what I want to do in any way, shape or form. However, I have come to understand that anything that involves our heavenly Father is going to involve waiting.
Also in this time of learning we must rest in the promises of Hebrews 12:1-3(NIV)
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." On the Other Hand However-
Babies live totally by their physical needs. An infant will cry when in need but as they get older they add pouting, kicking and screaming into the mix when what they what does not come quick enough.
I hate to say this but, I have known a few Christians who behave in the same manner. If what they are asking Father for does not come in their time table or in the manner they think is best, well let's just say it's not pretty. We have just left a season where answered prayers seem to be few and far between, and what there seemed to be is just a lot of questions about where were the needed answers or provisions.
A Line in the Sand
As a Prophet of God and a practicing Life Coach to the body of Christ I see a huge line that has been drawn in the sand. On one side of the line are those who have become bitter, angry and have totally laid down the spirit of faith, trust and expectancy. On the other side are those who in spite of delays, setbacks, and disappointments, are still filled with hope, faith, and trust in their Heavenly Father. Every moment that they wait for that expected end they become more fully developed in the nature of Christ. They stand on His Words of promise like the favorite Jer 29:11, in the Good News Translation says it like this:
"I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for."
I'm sure most of us can quote this verse from the King James Version:
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."
They are no longer moved by how long it may take to receive an answer to their prayers, they are so immersed in their relationship with their Heavenly Father that waiting no longer matters. It is not that their needs are not important, it is their understanding of God's promise which Jesus laid out so plain in Matt 6:31-34 (AMP) gives them hope.
"Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, what are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear? for the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all. But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides. So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble."
They have an understanding that God is taking care of them in every situation by His power, not their worries, and they are learning to sit and rest in his presence. Knowing that in his presence we have all we need, our hearts are fully turned toward our heavenly Father so that we can go about his business fully confident in his provision.
This is the NOW season
This is a wonderful season. This is the NOW season. We are going to see such a magnificent outpouring of the power of God on all flesh and as his children we get to be the buckets he pours from.Act 2:17-18 (NIV) says it like this:
"In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy."
We need to stop looking for the arrival of whatever it is we are waiting-believing for as if our lives are dependent on it, "for it is in HIM we live and move and have our being". (Acts 17:28) There is nothing else that can add to or take away from my life. Like many of my brothers and sisters in Christ, I too have needs waiting to be met. Some of those needs seem to be desperate, but every moment I wait, I am coming to understand more and more HE is ALL I really need. Even in the discomfort of my current circumstances I have that great sense of peace that only comes from WAITING. So dear friends, don't despise The WAIT. It is helping to prepare you for the great blessings that are coming your way.
Hope, Trust, and Expect, Remember my friends; The POWER is in - The WAIT. So I encouraage you - Don't Give Up, His answer for you is on it's way!!!!
